Sunday Brunch at Table 17

I've had dinner once before at Table 17 and I absolutely loved it. The food, the decor, the service, everything was phenomenal. I haven't been back since though; with my hectic schedule and my never-ending-and-always-expanding list of restaurants to try,  let's just say I don't have enough time to go back and visit some of my old favourites. I really wish there was more hours in a day, more days in a month, etc, etc...

So then, how did I end up at Table 17 for brunch? Well, Table 17 (@table17) has been really active on Twitter ever since it joined - they are fun, friendly, and extremely engaging on Twitter. They have also been doing a superb job in promoting not only their dinner menu, but also their brunch menu and specials. Needless to say I got curious about their brunch because of that, and was sold on it after seeing View the Vibe's "Sexy Sunday Brunch at Table 17". Anyway, I'm sure people on Twitter will agree with me that Table 17 has really made an impact in the Twitter community, so keep it up guys!

Before I move on, here is a newly released video of Table 17 from View the Vibe. Check it out! I'm confident that you will all be enticed to go afterwards too~

My friend and I went around 11:30AM and it was already really busy. We were seated at a table at the back of the restaurant. I think next time I will ask for a table by the window as it was rather dark where we were sitting, so the lighting is far from optimal for pictures =(

Drinks menu. I liked everything in that "5 Dollar Remedy" section =D

A variety of brunch items to choose from. You are bound to find something you like; the hard part for me was choosing just one.

Mimosa ($5) & Caesar ($5) - These were complimentary. Yes, FREE! All you need to do is check-in on Foursquare when you are at the restaurant, and you would then have the option of getting either a Mimosa or Caesar on the house. Sweet, yeah?

A Farmer's Breakfast - Scotch egg, Ontario cheddar & brie, creton (Québécoise style pork rillette) & country toast ($12)

Another angle of the Farmer's Breakfast to show off the Scotch egg. My friend had this and he basically enjoyed every single thing on the plate. He particularly liked the pork rillette, which is a spread, almost like a paté.

It was his first time having Scotch eggs (a hard-boiled egg wrapped in meat mixture, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried). He liked the difference in texture of the Scotch egg - the inside of the egg was warm and soft, while the "shell" was crunchy from the meat and breadcrumb mixture.

He also ordered two "meat" sides.

Thick Cut Double Smoked Bacon ($4) - I had a piece and it was good and thick. I thought it was a bit on the dry side but then, that's just me, I like my bacon fatty and more greasy.

Merguez Sausage ($4) - These are long and thin sausages; the meat was flavourful and delicious.

Pain Doré - French toast made with brioche & served with cinnamon creme anglaise and fresh berries ($10)

I ordered the French toast as I was craving something sweet that day. The French toast was good taste wise, but for the texture, I personally enjoy the lighter, thicker and fluffier kind of French toast like the one I had here at Globe Bistro

My friend and I both had a very lovely brunch that Sunday. When we were walking out I saw a server bringing out the Cuban Sandwich (black forest ham, roast pork, mustard, pickles and Havarti cheese, grilled and served with frites or green salad) - there is no question, whatsoever, that I'm gonna order that next time I'm at Table 17. But then, I've also heard good things about their Alsatian Tart (caramelized onions, blue cheese, bacon lardons, and bosc pear in a puff pastry shell, served with lightly dressed fresh greens). Decisions, decisions! O_o

I loved the scotch egg! I'd never had one before and it was really good. The Cuban was one of the other things that we were considering getting... Oh, well! Next time!

Foodjunkie,

Good post ! A comment to a person who does

View the Vibe..... I think the video should get more 'to the point' rather than showing happy people and smiling faces..... I almost wanted to turn the video off as there was way too much introduction/music and not enough talk / video about the real food that is put infront of them..... (which I think is the point of having a video of a restaurant - is to see if the food in front of them is same as an advertisement or a picture)..... There are too many videos with smiling people and happy faces that it gets repetitive and a bit boring...

Overall Foodjunkie, Another great post! and I always want to try Table 17 sometime.....
